The place depicted in this work must be close to the mouth of the Okitsu River, because the pine grove of Miho that appears in the Hagoromo legend and Suruga Bay dotted with can be seen. Although the river is not wide and is shallow enough for travelers to wade across, Hiroshige deliberately depicted a sumo wrestler being carried across in this picture, probably as a novelty. The four palanquin bearers tottering under the unusually heavy weight look rather comical.
