Standing on a hill in the distance is Yugyo-ji Temple, and the torii in the foreground is the first torii gate leading to Enoshima Benten Shrine. The highway comes to this great torii gate after passing through the bustling section in front of the temple and crossing Yugyo-ji Bridge. In this picture, which portrays a variety of travelers passing over the bridge, several blind people walking with a stick are particularly touching. Carrying a biwa lute or a shamisen (three-stringed musical instrument) on their backs, they are no doubt on their way to worship at the shrine of Benten, the goddess of music.
